On August 4, in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province, Coast Guard Region 4 Command held a Conference to announce the Decision to establish a Unmanned Vehicle Platoon directly under the Staff Department, Region Command. Colonel Tran Nguyen Lai - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Region Command chaired the conference.
At the conference, representatives of the General Staff Department announced the Decision of the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army on the establishment of an unmanned vehicle platoon directly under the General Staff Department, the Command; and at the same time announced and awarded decisions on personnel work for the established unit.
Speaking to assign tasks, Colonel Tran Nguyen Lai - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Regional Command emphasized that the establishment of the unmanned vehicle platoon is a specific step to concretize the policy of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam Coast Guard on promoting the application of science, technology, artificial intelligence, innovation, digital transformation and gradually modernizing forces. This is a specialized force with an important role, contributing to improving reconnaissance, supervision, patrol, control, information collection, search and rescue support, disaster prevention and control, combating smuggling, trade fraud, illegal seafood exploitation and other tasks at sea.
The Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Regional Command requested the Party Committee and Command of the Staff Department to quickly consolidate the organization, build working regulations, do a good job of management, training, and professional development, ensuring that officers and soldiers of the Platoon soon master equipment, techniques, and technology, and promote the effectiveness of unmanned vehicles in performing tasks. At the same time, each officer and soldier assigned tasks needs to uphold the spirit of responsibility, actively study, research, and train, improve professional qualifications, strictly comply with discipline, build units of solidarity, regularity, and be ready to receive and complete all assigned tasks well.
The establishment of the unmanned vehicle platoon is an important milestone contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of task performance, meeting the requirements of building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Vietnam Coast Guard force.
