On July 16, Coast Guard Region 4 Command (BTL) said that in the process of performing the task of combating IUU fishing at sea, functional forces discovered and supported a Thai ship that broke down and drifted in the Southwest sea area.
At 2:00 PM on July 14, the ship squadron of Coast Guard Region 4 Command discovered a Thai ship drifting in Vietnamese waters and signaled for help, about 4 nautical miles from the Vietnam - Thailand sea border.
Immediately after receiving the signal, the forward Command of Coast Guard Region 4 Command directed ships in the mobile formation to approach, dock and send a working group to inspect and support. Through verification, ship number 3177, Thai nationality, departed on July 13 at Nagathiwat port (Thailand); captain is Mr. Khenmanivongpe, born in 1978, Lao nationality, on board there are 3 Thai nationality crew members.

According to the captain, the ship was transporting rice between two ports of Thailand when the main engine broke down, lost maneuverability and drifted to Vietnamese waters. Through inspection, functional forces of Coast Guard Region 4 Command determined that the main engine of Ship 3177 was severely damaged and could not be repaired on the spot.
At the captain's request, Coast Guard Region 4 Command reported to superiors and allowed ship 3177 to anchor in a safe location to wait for the Thai ship to tow it back to the country for repair. During the anchoring period, functional forces of Coast Guard Region 4 Command provided domestic water, food, and guided and provided medical support to the crew members on ship 3177.
On July 16, Thai ship number 3275/02305 approached and towed ship 3177 towards Trat port (Thailand) for repair.
