On August 8, the Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands of Khanh Hoa is verifying the incident related to a clip of a diver using a homemade tool to shoot fish in the coastal area of Nha Trang.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Trong Chanh - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Environment - said that he has assigned the Khanh Hoa Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands to inspect and verify the case for handling according to regulations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Chanh, the images shared on social networks are one of the information channels for functional agencies to receive, inspect and handle the case.
However, the verification process needs time to clarify the related information, thereby having a basis for resolution.
Previously, images of a diver in the coastal area of Nha Trang appeared on social networks.
The shared images do not clearly show the location belonging to Nha Trang coastal area, Bac Nha Trang ward or Nha Trang ward.
Images of some people diving to shoot fish have received reactions from the online community. Accordingly, diving to shoot fish in the coastal area of Nha Trang poses a risk of unsafety and threatens the coastal ecosystem.
Meanwhile, in the Hon Chong - Dang Tat sea area on the coast of Nha Trang, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board has placed strict prohibition signs in areas with coral reefs and sea grass beds; strictly prohibiting the exploitation of aquatic species, destroying landscapes and natural ecosystems.
For the above-mentioned acts, according to the provisions of current law, the level of administrative violation penalty is mentioned from 50 million VND to 100 million VND.
Nha Trang Bay Management Board recommends that people and tourists protect coral reefs, do not swim or infringe on unique and valuable marine ecosystems in Nha Trang Bay.
