Passenger car plunges into abyss in Son La, 1 dead, 6 injured

    Son La - A passenger car accident in Van Ho commune killed 1 person, injured 6 people, and the vehicle plunged into a deep embankment due to narrow roads and steep passes.

    Son La Provincial Police said that at about 10:30 am on April 26, at Km 04+200 of the Nien - Na Bai inter-village road, Van Ho commune (Son La), a serious traffic accident occurred.

    According to initial information, Mr. Luu Viet T. (born 1985), residing in Hanoi, was driving passenger car BKS 29B-170. XX carrying 25 people, traveling from Hanoi to Van Ho. When reaching a steep, many curves, narrow road surface of about 2.5m, the driver lost control, the car plunged into a negative slope, about 100m deep.

    The accident killed 1 person on the spot, 6 others were injured and taken to the emergency room; the vehicle was heavily damaged.

    Immediately after the incident occurred, the traffic police, fire prevention and fighting and rescue forces of Son La Provincial Police and local police urgently rescued, took the victims to the emergency room, protected the scene and diverted traffic.

    The initial cause was determined to be narrow road terrain, steep passes and drivers not familiar with the road.

    The case is being further investigated and clarified.
