Phu Yen - Authorities have summoned and worked with a man who illegally occupied the roadway and collected parking fees from tourists during Tet.

On the afternoon of January 31, Lao Dong news source reported that the People's Committee of Ward 7 (Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen) directed the police to investigate and clarify the case of a resident illegally occupying the roadway and illegally collecting parking fees from customers.

Previously, a clip was circulated on social media recording a group of tourists being charged parking fees by a man when they parked their car on Phan Luu Thanh Street (Tuy Hoa City).

After seeing the group of tourists react to the parking fee, the man exchanged words, leading to an argument between the two sides.

The man in the clip even cursed and asked the group of customers to drive out of the parking lot, saying that he had rented the area.

The clip quickly spread on social networks, causing many people to react to the man's unprofessional and vulgar behavior.

Upon verification, the man in the clip was Quach Huu Thanh (66 years old, residing in Ward 7, Tuy Hoa City). Mr. Thanh had illegally occupied the roadway and illegally collected parking fees from customers.

Authorities also determined that Mr. Thanh did not pay any fees to the local authorities and did not rent the parking area as he told tourists in the clip.

"Mr. Thanh has admitted his mistake. The locality is consolidating the case file to impose an administrative penalty on Mr. Thanh," said the leader of Ward 7 People's Committee.

Working with the authorities, Mr. Thanh confessed that the incident occurred on January 28 (December 29).

"I felt ashamed so after that day, I didn't do this anymore. I went to look for the group of guests to apologize but couldn't find them," Mr. Thanh said.
