On November 1, in Long Xuyen ward, An Giang province, My Thoi Fire Fighting and Rescue Team (under the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Chau Thanh area) coordinated with Long Xuyen Medical Center to organize a fire fighting and rescue drill at the facility.
According to the hypothetical situation, the electrical short circuit caused a fire in the administrative area on the 2nd floor of the Medical Center. This area contained many flammable materials such as: documents, fabric, plastic, electrical equipment, wooden tables and chairs, etc., so the fire quickly flared up, spread and caused a large amount of toxic smoke covering the corridor and stairs. At the time of the fire, there were many doctors, patients and relatives visiting. The fire and toxic smoke trapped some people on the upper floors, causing panic.
As soon as the automatic fire alarm system was activated, the fire prevention and fighting force at the Medical Center quickly rang the alarm bell for the entire building, cutting off the power, and using on-site fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Organize evacuation instructions, move assets outside, and call professional firefighting forces to report the fire.

Upon receiving the fire alarm, the My Thoi Fire Fighting and Rescue Team immediately dispatched 3 fire trucks; 1 rescue vehicle; 1 command vehicle; 1 vehicle carrying vehicle, along with more than 35 officers and soldiers to quickly arrived at the scene to deploy a formation, coordinating with the fire fighting force of the Medical Center to conduct fire fighting.
One group used water sprayers to control the fire and cool the floors of the anti-fire building, while the other group rescued the victims trapped inside to safety. After about 15 minutes of active fire fighting coordination between the forces, the simulated fire was completely extinguished, all victims were successfully rescued.
The drill session was assessed to meet the requirements, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles. Through the drill, it is a practical opportunity for medical staff to raise awareness, master the skills of using on-site fire fighting equipment and be ready to respond effectively when a fire or explosion occurs.
