Regarding the case of "Temporarily sealing over 3.7 tons of seafood in Thai Binh to check the origin", on June 7, speaking with Lao Dong reporter, a representative of the Market Management Department (Thai Binh Department of Industry and Trade) said: The interdisciplinary inspection team for the peak period against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement in Thai Binh province (inspection team No. 1) handed over the dossier, transferring Market Management Team No. 4 to issue a decision to sanction administrative violations against a seafood business in Thai Phuc commune, Thai Thuy district.
Accordingly, through inspection and verification, the authorities discovered that the above enterprise had committed two violations including "Propaganda and food ingredients with insects and harmful animals encroaching" and "Violating other regulations on conditions for ensuring food safety according to the provisions of law in production, trading, preservation...". The total fine for these two violations is 37 million VND.
Regarding the origin and origin of the goods, the representative of the Market Management Department of Thai Binh Province added that the enterprise has provided invoices of vouchers and goods purchasing contracts as seafood caught from fishing vessels in Thai Binh and Hai Phong as prescribed. Therefore, the authorities have removed the seal of the goods of the enterprise.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on the morning of June 6, the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement in Thai Binh province (Investment Team No. 1) chaired by the Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Market Management Team No. 4 - Market Management Department of Thai Binh province, organized a surprise inspection of a seafood business in Thai Phuc commune, Thai Thuy district.
At the time of inspection, this enterprise is storing and preserving 830kg of raw ink; 440kg of snails, 350kg of mackerel, 30kg of octopus, 2,000kg of SIM squid, 90kg of finished squid in the finished product with the total value of the listed price of the enterprise is 262,930,000 VND.
After checking some items, the business owner initially could not present invoices or documents proving their origin; some items showed signs of suspicion of not ensuring food hygiene and safety. The inspection team took samples of the items for quick testing and sent them for testing and quality assessment.
Next, the team drew up a record, temporarily sealed all goods to serve investigation and administrative verification; assigned enterprises to preserve and request not to export or import goods during the goods sealing period.
By the afternoon of the same day, members of Inspection Team No. 1 continued to work with the enterprise to verify, investigate, and clarify business conditions, origin, and quality of goods for all 3,740 kg of seafood mentioned above.
