During the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, the authorities of many wards in Hanoi have actively gone to the grassroots, inspected and urged people to take measures to ensure fire prevention and fighting safety (PCCC). A typical example is Mai Dong ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi city.
During the holidays, Mai Dong ward mobilized the entire political system at the grassroots level including professional cadres, party cell secretaries, village group leaders, front officers, regional police... to simultaneously propagate and mobilize people to sign a commitment to comply with fire prevention and fighting regulations.
In particular, the ward focused on requiring households to drill escape gates in "tiger cages", mobilizing families renting to install additional escape lifts, equip fire extinguishers; and at the same time deploying the installation of additional public fire protection points in residential areas.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Thinh - Vice Chairman of Mai Dong Ward People's Committee - said that as of May 3, 2025, the whole ward has completed the drainage for 823/967 "tiger cages", reaching a rate of 85%. On the last day of the holiday, the locality strives to complete the remaining 144 households.
According to Mr. Thinh, people are clearly aware of the risk of fire and realize that "rescuing themselves before waiting for others to come and save them" is urgent. The ward leaders affirmed the spirit of determination "for the people's lives, grassroots cadres who are afraid should stand aside". Notably, 2 heads of residential groups have resigned because they hesitated and could not keep up with the work progress.
In just a few days off for the holiday, Mai Dong people have planted nearly 100 "tiger cages" as escape gates. In particular, Residential Area Party Cell No. 10 leads the whole ward with 100% of households signing a commitment to strictly implement fire prevention and fighting regulations.
Of which, 274/274 households have created escape gates; 23 households have combined with business to create a second escape route; 12 households have installed automatic fire alarm equipment; 6 households have equipped with escape lifts.
In addition to residential area No. 10, many other Party cells such as residential areas No. 13, 9, 6, 4... are also effectively implementing this work. The Mai Dong Ward Party Committee aims to complete the task ahead of schedule on May 10 according to the direction of the Chairman of the Hoang Mai District People's Committee and will organize awards for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the fire prevention movement.
Not only in Hoang Mai district, many other localities in Hanoi have also simultaneously increased fire prevention and fighting work. The People's Committee of Dai Mo Ward (Nam Tu Liem District) has just issued a document requesting to tighten the implementation of fire prevention and fighting and rescue measures (CNCH) in 2025.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Vice Chairman of Dai Mo Ward People's Committee said that the locality has mobilized people to open a second escape route, dismantle "tiger cages" in individual houses or houses combined with production and business to ensure emergency escape.
" 100% of facilities and households that have not remedied violations will be forced to stop operations according to Directive 19 dated June 24, 2024, until the safety solutions for fire prevention and fighting are completed," Mr. Hung emphasized.
The People's Committee of Dai Mo Ward has also developed a plan to practice fire fighting in high-risk residential areas such as deep alleys and areas lacking fire water, requiring completion before June 30, 2025.
For facilities such as boarding houses, individual houses... that do not fully implement the conclusions of the inspection team, the authorities will strictly handle them, including applying measures to cut off electricity and water if necessary.
