The camera system using artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an important tool in traffic monitoring. In just one month (from October 15 to November 14), Thanh Hoa Provincial Police recorded 624 cases of violations through cameras; in which hundreds of car drivers were found not wearing seat belts.
According to the Provincial Police, in just 3 days from November 14 to November 16, the AI camera automatically identified and recorded 164 cases of car drivers not wearing seat belts. All images of the violation were extracted by the system and transferred to the Treatment Center, ensuring objectivity and transparency in the handling.
AI cameras are helping authorities simultaneously identify many behaviors such as: not wearing a helmet, running red lights, driving in the wrong lane, using a phone while driving, violating speed... The automatic analysis system of license plates, drivers and vehicle behavior; data is transmitted online to the Smart Traffic Management Center for timely monitoring and handling.
Thanh Hoa started installing traffic security cameras from 2022 with more than 200 cameras at key intersections and routes. The application of AI has improved management efficiency, increased fairness in handling and supported the formation of a civilized and safe traffic culture.
According to the Provincial Police, people's awareness has changed positively; the situation of running red lights and not wearing helmets has decreased significantly. Along with AI handling, the authorities continue to promote propaganda to make people comply with regulations such as wearing seat belts, wearing helmets, not using phones while driving and driving on the right side of the road.
