Small accessories but directly related to safety
In modern cars, the wipers are a simple part but play an important role in ensuring visibility for the driver. When the windshield is effectively cleaned, the driver can clearly observe the road and limit the risk of accidents in rainy, foggy or dusty conditions.
Over time of use, the wiper can be worn due to the impact of hot sun, rain and dust from the environment. When the spring of the wiper is weakened, the pressure of the wiper blade on the windshield will decrease, making rainwater cleaning no longer effective. In addition, the rubber part in contact with the windshield can become hard, cracked or worn, leading to the phenomenon of unclean wipers, leaving faint streaks on the windshield.
Some common signs that a wiper needs to be checked or replaced include: noise when operating, wiper blade shaking, uneven wipers or leaving water stains on the windshield.
According to Mr. Mike Quincy - an automotive technician at the Consumer Reports Auto Test Center (USA), clear visibility is a vital factor when driving. He said: "Many people often skip the wipers until they are completely damaged, but periodic replacement helps maintain good visibility and reduce the risk of accidents.
Technicians recommend that car owners check the wipers regularly and replace them after about 6 - 18 months of use. In hot, humid and rainy tropical climates like Vietnam, the replacement time can be shortened to about 6 months.
Types of wipers and proper maintenance
There are many different types of rain wipers on the market today. The most popular type is a traditional metal frame rain wiper, with a structure consisting of a metal frame and a rubber blade. The advantage of this type is its high durability and low cost, but after a long period of use, it is easily shaken.
Besides, there are soft bone wipers, using silicon or synthetic rubber blades and no metal frame. This type has better grip on the windshield, operates smoothly and causes less noise, but the cost is usually higher.
Another option is a hybrid wiper, combining a metal frame and soft material to increase durability as well as cleaning efficiency. There are also multi-joint wipers, suitable for many different chốt standards on each car line.
For the wiper to work durablely, users should periodically clean the wiper blade with a soft cloth and specialized glass cleaning solution to remove dirt and grease. Do not use the wiper when the glass is too dry because it can easily wear off the rubber blade.
In addition, you should regularly check and supplement glass cleaning solution, limit parking under the hot sun for too long because high temperatures can cause rubber to age quickly.
Even if it is just a small detail, the wipers play an important role in the car's safety system. Checking, choosing the right type and periodic maintenance will help drivers always maintain a clear vision in all weather conditions.
