On the afternoon of March 10, Mr. Luong Sy Hiep - Vice Chairman of Son Kim 1 Commune People's Committee - said that May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company has not yet paid wages to workers as promised before.
This morning, functional departments and branches of Ha Tinh province together with representatives of Son Kim 1 commune government worked with leaders of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company on the reason for not paying salaries to workers as committed. They said that because the parent company has not transferred money, they do not have money to pay salaries. Then they promised to pay on March 14. If that day there is still no payment, functional departments will handle it according to the provisions of law," Mr. Hiep informed.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper had an article "More than 300 workers of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company are owed wages" reflecting the fact that this enterprise is owing wages, bonuses and late payment of social insurance for employees.
According to workers' reflections, so far they have not received salaries for January and February 2026, and Tet bonuses for Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026. They are also owed social insurance for December 2025 and January 2026. The incident is causing them to collectively stop working to demand their rights.
On February 26, May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company organized a dialogue with workers, with the participation of representatives of the local government of Son Kim 1 commune, the Management Board of Ha Tinh Economic Zone, the Ha Tinh Provincial Labor Federation, and the Ha Tinh Provincial Police.
At the dialogue, representatives of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company committed to paying the January 2026 salary on March 3, 2026; social insurance for December 2025 and January 2026 will be paid on March 3, 2026; paying 50% of Tet bonus on March 3, 2026 and the remaining 50% of Tet bonus will be paid on March 10, 2026; salaries for the working days of workers in February 2026 (month with many Tet holidays) will also be paid on March 10, 2026.
However, by March 3, the above-mentioned payment commitments had not yet been paid to workers. After that, the business promised to pay on March 6, but by this afternoon, the commitment had not yet been fulfilled.
At a meeting with Ha Tinh functional sectors on the afternoon of March 6, representatives of May Fivestar Ha Tinh Joint Stock Company promised to pay all debts to workers no later than March 10. After payment is completed, they will meet with workers to agree on a date for the company to resume operations.
However, by the 10th, 3 workers continued to break promises. The prolonged salary arrears and many times of promises broken by company leaders made workers very upset.
According to the leader of Son Kim 1 Commune People's Committee, the garment factory of Fivestar Ha Tinh Garment Joint Stock Company in Son Kim 1 commune does not know when it will reopen. Initially, it is focusing on paying salaries, bonuses and social insurance for employees.
