The Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of 10 laws related to security and order, including the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, stipulates that from July 1, 2026, when carrying children under 10 years old and under 1.35m tall in cars, drivers must use appropriate safety equipment, except for passenger transport business vehicles.
Decree 168/2024 also stipulates that in cases of carrying children under 10 years old and under 1.35 m tall in cars sitting in the same driver's seat or not using safety equipment, drivers may be fined from 800,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND.
In fact, many parents did not wait until they had a request to use safety seats for their children, but depending on the actual needs of the family, safety equipment has been equipped for a long time.
Sharing with PV, Mr. Mai Tien Thanh (Kien Hung ward, Hanoi) said that his family has a 6-year-old girl, about 1.15m tall and currently the family uses a 4-seater car as the main means of transportation. Since equipping a safe folding chair for his child, picking up and dropping off and traveling long distances has become more convenient and proactive.
My hometown is about 150km from Hanoi. Previously, every time I went home and brought my child with me, both husband and wife often had to go together, one driver, one person sitting next to me to hold or look after the child. Since installing safe stretcher seats, movement is much more flexible. When my wife is busy, the two fathers and sons can still walk on their own. My daughter also really likes her own seat," Mr. Thanh shared.

According to Mr. Thanh, before deciding to buy the product, he spent time carefully researching the seats for children and choosing upholstered seats, suitable for the age, height, and weight of his child. The most important factor is that the seat has a mechanism to firmly fix into the car through the ISOFIX system or seat belts, helping to limit movement when collisions occur.
From practical experience, Mr. Thanh believes that when choosing safety equipment for children in cars, parents should prioritize products that meet safety standards and are suitable for children's physical condition instead of just paying attention to price or design.
In addition, you should buy products at reputable units to ensure quality, origin and after-sales benefits.
Also having a need to buy more safe chairs for his son, Mr. Anh Thach (Long Bien, Hanoi) said that he and his wife currently have two young children, a 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. Previously, the family had equipped separate chairs for their son and was preparing to buy one more for the girl.
According to Mr. Thach, because he often travels between Hanoi and his hometown every weekend, equipping both children with full safety seats is a necessary need. He said that in the early days of use, his son was not used to sitting in a separate seat, often fussing, demanding to be held or sat with his parents.
However, after a period of guidance and habit-building, the baby has adapted and cooperated more in each trip.
In the near future, the family will continue to train the baby girl to get used to safe seats. I think this process also takes time but it is necessary. Although there are some initial inconveniences, the safety of the children is still the top priority, so my family completely supports the current regulations," Mr. Thach shared.

According to the definition in QCVN 123:2024/BGTVT, child safety equipment includes the CRS child restraint system (Child Restraint System) and the ECRS enhanced child restraint system (Enhanced Child Restraint System).
This is a combination of parts including seats, belts, safety locks, adjustment equipment and other accessories such as cribs, collision shields, capable of being firmly installed on the car.
The advanced children's device has an additional ISOFIX safety lock mechanism, or fixed anchor hooks (top tether) and load-bearing legs under the car floor, to help increase the safety of children's seats in case of collision.
