According to US media, American alternative musician and singer Oliver Tree died in a serious helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday morning (June 14). Oliver Tree is 32 years old.
The incident occurred when two helicopters collided in mid-air in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area, west of Rio de Janeiro, before falling onto the parking lot of a car dealership.
The collision caused both planes to catch fire, and at the same time burned down about 20 trams below.
Rio de Janeiro army firefighters confirmed that the fire was quickly controlled. However, all 6 people on board the two helicopters did not survive.
According to police sources, Oliver Tree is in Brazil on a world tour and is one of the passengers on the crashed helicopter. The identities of the victims are still being officially verified by authorities because the bodies were heavily burned after the accident.
In addition to Oliver Tree, the passenger list is said to include a Brazilian music producer, an Argentine video director and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim (Gaspi). One of the two helicopters carried 5 people, while the other was only piloted.
Brazilian officials said that the investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
