The Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police on October 22 announced a list of cars and motorbikes violating traffic (from October 1 to 10) through the surveillance camera system.
Of which, 35 cars and 6 motorbikes violated the law and were fined.
Notably, in the list of violating cars, there are characters "T" and "V" appearing on the back of the license plate, making many people wonder about the meaning of these two words.
Explaining this, a Traffic Police officer of the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police said that the characters "T" and "V" are to distinguish between white-plate vehicles (issued to vehicles of domestic organizations and individuals) and yellow-plate vehicles (issued to vehicles for transport business activities).
"Traffic police added the letters "T" and "V" on the back of the license plate in the list of fines to make it easier for people to recognize" - he said.
According to the reporter's research, the Law on Road Traffic Safety stipulates 8 types of license plates.
Blue license plates, white letters and numbers issued to vehicles of Party, State agencies, socio-political organizations, and public service units. Red background badges, white letters and numbers issued to military vehicles.
Gold background plates, black letters and numbers issued for vehicles used for transportation business. White background plates, black letters and numbers issued to vehicles of domestic organizations and individuals.
White background license plates, red letters, black numbers, with red "NG" symbols issued to vehicles by diplomatic missions. The license plate is white, with red text, black number, and has the symbol "QT" in red issued to the vehicle by the representative agency of the international organization.
