The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; Vietnam Journalists Association.
The National Press Award "For the development of Vietnamese culture" is held annually to select and honor authors and groups of authors with outstanding works vividly reflecting the fields of culture, information, sports, tourism and family published in central and local press agencies.
The award recognizes and expresses gratitude for the persistent contributions of journalists in the construction and development of an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity, affirming the role of the press in spreading good values to the community.
The award is intended to encourage the creativity of the press team, while contributing to realizing the strategic action statement of the industry: "Culture is the foundation - Information is the conductor - Sports are the strength - Tourism is the bridge connecting".

In nearly four months of launching, as of August 10, 2025, the Secretariat - Summary of the Award has received 1,040 entries from most central and local press agencies.
After the preliminary round taking place from August 30 to September 15, 2025, 927 qualified entries will be considered and 122 best entries will be selected for the final round.
The type of electronic newspaper has the largest number of entries among the types. This year, the number of works put in the preliminary survey is 385 works, an increase of 150 works compared to 2024.
The works selected for the final round are mostly presented in multimedia form Mega Story, E-magazine with images, video clips, audits, data graphics... presented vividly, eye-catchingly, taking advantage of the advantages of electronic newspapers.
Many series of articles in foreign languages have contributed to conveying to international readers about the policies and guidelines of the Party and State on culture, information, sports, tourism, and family.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 95 individual prizes, including 5 First prizes, 15 Second prizes, 25 Third prizes and 50 Encouragement prizes; 3 collective prizes were awarded to press agencies with many quality works.
Lao Dong Newspaper won 1 Encouragement Award for Electronic Newspapers, with a series of articles "Closed doors and stories about the elderly's hospitals" by the group of authors Nguyen Thi Thu Huong and Tran Huyen Chi.
In particular, the Vietnamese Inspiration category - awarded for the first time - honors 5 collectives and an individual with outstanding contributions to creating and spreading the good values of Vietnamese culture. In this category, Nguyen Hung - actor of the film "Red Rain" was the only artist to receive the award.
