First launched in 2008, the Ferrari California (code F149) is a convertible supercar that stands out with its hardtop design and a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, rear-wheel drive, front-mid position.
Then, in 2012, Ferrari improved the car with the lighter and more powerful California 30 version. In 2014, the company continued to launch the second generation, called California T, equipped with a new twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine.
The “California” name is a revival of classic Ferrari models such as the 250 GT California Spyder of the late 1950s and the 365 California of the 1960s. The 2008 Ferrari California was considered the base model, but it came with many new improvements from Ferrari. By 2018, Ferrari had replaced this model line with the Portofino.
In Vietnam, there are 6 Ferrari California imported, including 4 standard versions and 2 California Ts. Of these, only one car is equipped with a Hamann body kit. The car used to have a diplomatic license plate, then was transferred to a car enthusiast in Ho Chi Minh City.
The exterior of the car is still very new after 15 years of use, with a Hamann body kit, Capristo exhaust, and Pur wheels measuring 21 inches in the front and 22 inches in the rear.
Ferrari California has a 4.3-liter Ferrari-Maserati Type F136 IB engine with direct fuel injection, producing a maximum capacity of 453 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and maximum torque of 485 Nm at 5,000 rpm.
The power-to-displacement ratio is up to 106 horsepower per liter, an impressive figure for a naturally aspirated engine. The engine uses a wet crankcase lubrication system and is designed to deliver a distinctive sound, optimizing the driving experience with the roof up or down.
The front mid-engine layout and rear-mounted transmission create a perfect weight distribution ratio of 47% front and 53% rear, helping the car achieve optimal driving performance.
