The South Korean government has found that Kia Sorento models do not meet federal safety requirements for lighting systems, a serious safety issue that increases the risk of accidents.
According to the safety recall report, a software logic error in Kia's body control unit is causing the loss of headlights and taillights in certain situations.
Kia North America, after receiving notification from its headquarters in Korea, checked the records and confirmed that there were no cases recorded in this area. However, the company still decided to launch a recall campaign to ensure user safety.
The recall applies to 2024 and 2025 Sorento vehicles, including the 2025 Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models. Kia plans to notify owners of the recall in February 2025. Dealers will update the Body Control Module software for affected vehicles free of charge.
