According to the company, in the new versions R1 and R1M, Yamaha focuses on aerodynamics and maintains the overall design. The 2025 YZF-R1 and R1M are equipped with additional spoilers to significantly increase the aerodynamics of the vehicle. This equipment is inherited from Yamaha's "old men" of MotoGP YZR-M1 racing motorbikes. This set of wings helps provide downforce when cornering and accelerating, helping to increase the stability and performance of the vehicle.
The company has also upgraded the shock absorbers and can adjust them specifically for the R1, helping to improve road compliance and stabilize the vehicle's frame. As for the high-performance version R1M, the company continues to equip the high-end Ohlins suspension system.
The R1 and R1M are both equipped with a 998cc inline 4-cylinder engine; maximum capacity reaches 200 horsepower with maximum torque of 113 Nm. The car is also equipped with a manual clutch, 6-speed gearbox integrated with 2-way rapid transmission technology.
In addition, the vehicle is also equipped with driving assistance features such as ABS assist when entering IMU corners, traction control, take-off control and many different driving modes. The company also said it has upgraded the engines of the R1 and R1M to meet Euro 5 emission standards.
According to the plan, Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M 2025 will be sold first in the US and Europe with prices ranging from 19,000-27,700 USD.
