Decree 109/2024/ND-CP, which reduces registration fees by 50% for assembled vehicles, will expire on December 1. Although only applied for 3 months, this policy will still help domestic enterprises overcome difficulties and create a boost for the Vietnamese automobile market to grow strongly.
Busy dealership
According to sales results announced by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), total passenger car sales of its members reached 24,714 units in the first month of registration fee reduction (September), up 55% compared to August. This figure continued to grow by 7% in October, reaching 26,453 units.
Although November sales figures have not been released, according to research, dealers are operating at full capacity due to the high number of customers as the registration fee reduction is about to end.
Sharing with Lao Dong, an employee at a Kia dealership in Ho Chi Minh City said: "These days, the number of customers coming to see and buy cars has increased quite a lot. However, registering cars for customers at this time is not facing any problems."
The same situation is happening at Hyundai car dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City. A sales staff shared with Lao Dong: "If customers buy and finalize the car to complete tax declaration procedures today (November 29) and tomorrow (November 30), they will still be able to enjoy the preferential reduction in registration fees."
Employees work continuously
According to regulations, users registering a new car for the first time can pay the registration fee online through the National Public Service Portal. At this time, car dealership staff in the Ho Chi Minh City area are working continuously, especially completing tax procedures so that customers can enjoy the registration fee reduction in time before the fee reduction period ends on December 1.
"Currently, the car registration procedure is not too difficult, but at this time, we often recommend that customers complete tax procedures to enjoy the preferential reduction in registration fees, and the registration and license plate procedures will be postponed to next month. However, if customers want to have a license plate early, the dealer will still do it and will not encounter many difficulties with the procedures," said a sales staff at a Hyundai dealer.
