Kia and Hyundai officially set a record for car sales in the US

Kia and Hyundai have sold a total of 1,633,290 vehicles in the US in 2024. The two best-selling models of each brand are the Sportage and Tucson.

Of the total of more than 1 million 6 cars, Kia sold 796,488 units, surpassing the record set in 2023 of 782,451 cars. The Sportage is Kia's most popular model with 161,917 units sold - a record for annual sales. Followed by the K4/Forte with 139,778 cars and telluride with 115,504 cars, also reaching the annual record.

Kia's electric vehicle sales have increased by 74% and accounted for 7% of total sales in 2024. The EV9 model has 22,017 customers, while the EV6 model follows closely behind with 21,715 customers. However, not everything went smoothly as sales of the K5 model decreased by 28%, to only 46,311 units. The Niro, soul and Seltos models also recorded a significant decline.

As for Hyundai, the company sold 836,802 vehicles in the US last year, setting a new record compared to 870,370 units in 2023. Vehicles such as Palisade, Ioniq 5, Tucson Hybrid and Santa Fe Hybrid all set annual sales records. The Tucson model leads with 206,126 units sold, down 2% compared to 2023. Followed by the Elantra with 136,698 vehicles and the Santa Fe with 119,010 vehicles. The Ioniq 5 model increased by 31%, reaching 44,400 units; Palisade sales also increased by 23% with 110,055 units sold. According to information from Hyundai, this large SUV is about to have a redesigned version.

In contrast, the Santa Cruz pickup truck decreased by 13% to 32,033 units. Venue decreased by 12%, while the Ioniq 6 decreased by 6%. In particular, the Sonata model - a product with the same powertrain as the Kia K5 but sales increased by 53%, reaching 69,343 units.
