Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tiep - Head of the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police - informed that the unit is coordinating with local police to simultaneously inspect and strictly handle violations. The content focuses on detecting acts of changing vehicle structure, checking electrical system, batteries, accumulators and conditions of use suitable to age. Many cases have been recorded and vehicles have been temporarily seized for handling according to regulations.
In the Bao Loc area, through checking parking lots at schools, functional forces discovered 15 cases of students "modifying" vehicles such as increasing engine power, installing large capacity batteries, and using high-voltage batteries of unknown origin.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Thu - Head of Madaguoi Traffic Police Station - said that "modification" causes unstable vehicle structures, posing a risk of fire and explosion. Floating batteries and accumulators that are not inspected are prone to short circuits and heat generation when operating at high intensity.
Notably, at the beginning of April, a traffic accident related to an electric bicycle occurred in Da Huoai commune, killing a 9th grade student. Through inspection, the vehicle had a structural change.
On April 22, Da Huoai Commune Police inspected parking lots at schools, and at the same time reviewed repair facilities showing signs of illegal "modification". Many vehicles were found to have technical intervention such as engine changes, power increases, installation of substandard equipment and were temporarily seized.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hung - Head of Da Huoai Commune Police, besides handling violations, the police force strengthens propaganda and education. Parents are invited to work, sign commitments to manage their children; violating students must remove "modified" parts and restore vehicles to their original state.
Propaganda work is implemented at schools through activities under the flag, distributing leaflets, signing commitments to comply with the law, focusing on raising awareness about the risk of accidents and fires from "modified" vehicles and the responsibility of families.
Handling this situation not only ensures traffic order and safety but also contributes to preventing fires and explosions, protecting people's lives.
