Toyota leaders warn of the consequences of switching to electric vehicles

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Toyota, Akio Toyoda has just warned about the use of all electric cars in the future.

Mr. Akio Toyoda believes that switching completely to electric cars could cause unemployment for workers and suppliers in the field related to engine technology.

"There are 5.5 million people working in the auto industry in Japan. Among them, there are people who have been working on engines for a long time. Therefore, if electric cars become the only option, these people will lose their jobs. And even for our suppliers, this is a disadvantage," said a Toyota representative.

The slow growth rate of electric vehicle sales has affected major automakers such as Ford, General Motors or Volvo... Therefore, these brands must re-evaluate their strategy of focusing heavily on electric vehicles as before.

Certainly taking advantage of and developing hybrid cars due to expanding demand for electric cars. The company supports a "roadmap" strategy, aiming for zero carbon emissions including investment in the production of electric cars, hybrid cars, hydrogen fuel cell cars and other engine technologies.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Toyota also revealed that the company will only allow electric vehicles to account for a maximum of 30% of the global auto market, the rest will be hybrid vehicles, vehicles using hydrogen fuel cells and gasoline and diesel vehicles. However, this Chairman did not reveal the time for the above forecast.
