According to reporters' records on the morning of August 31, at a parking lot in the area near Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (Ba Dinh ward, Hanoi City), people visiting and taking photos had to pay 20,000 VND/motorbike.
Although the fee is quite high, some people still accept parking to facilitate walking, sightseeing, and taking photos.
Not only in the area near Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, on August 31, reporters continued to record higher parking prices than usual at some points in the central area of Hanoi.
At a parking lot at the Cau Go - Le Thai To intersection (Hoan Kiem ward, Hanoi), the parking attendant said that the motorbike parking fee is 30,000 VND/vehicle/turn if parked during the day.
Normally, my family still parks here. On normal days, taking 20,000 VND/turn from Monday to Friday; Saturdays and Sundays collect 30,000 VND/turn, if it rains and there are fewer customers, 20,000 VND is also accepted. Today it's Monday, but it's a holiday, so I have to take 30,000 VND/turn, if there are fewer places to park later, I still have to collect 40,000 VND/turn," the parking attendant said.
According to reporters' records at some surrounding locations, motorbike parking prices range from 20,000 - 30,000 VND/turn. Although the fee is higher than usual, some people still choose to park to avoid traveling far.
At another spontaneous parking spot on Ba Trieu street, one motorbike parking fee is 20,000 VND.
When asked about the price, the parking attendant said: "Now on holidays, wherever I go, it's the same. Going up there still costs 50,000 VND.
This holiday is 20,000 VND, if you criticize, you have to accept it, don't have to explain, if you criticize it as expensive, you don't accept it," this person added.
Not only motorbikes, at a car parking point on Hai Ba Trung street (Cua Nam ward, Hanoi), car parking fees are also recorded at a high level.
According to reporters' records, the parking attendant here said that the fee is 100,000 VND/vehicle/turn. When asked why the price is so high, the parking attendant emphasized that because this is a holiday, besides, 100,000 VND is allowed to be "comfortable" during the day, not calculated by parking time.
Decision No. 44/2017/QD-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee stipulates quite detailedly the framework price for parking services for both cars and motorbikes, bicycles, in both inner and outer city areas.
Accordingly, the lowest motorbike parking price is 5,000 VND/turn/day, the highest is 12,000 VND/turn/day and night in the inner city area. For parking spots in the suburbs, the price is only from 2,000 - 4,000 VND/turn.
The parking fee for cars with 9 seats or less, calculated by area, is from 15,000 - 30,000 VND/turn (60 minutes).
Thus, the above toll rates are many times higher than regulations.
