CLA 200 EV is developed on the MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture) platform and only has one version in Vietnam, accompanied by the AMG Line equipment package.
The car has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,723 x 1,855 x 1,468 mm, wheelbase of 2,790 mm. CLA 200 has a 4-door coupe sedan style with a sloping hood to improve aerodynamics.
The front of the car uses a closed design characteristic of electric cars, replacing the traditional grille. This decorative cluster integrates 142 three-pointed star motifs that can glow. The car also has a 101-liter front storage compartment, next to the rear luggage compartment.
The interior is equipped with an extended MBUX Superscreen screen cluster on the dashboard, including a 10.25-inch screen for the driver and two 14-inch screens. The system uses the MB. OS platform and MBUX Virtual Assistant virtual assistant.
Some notable equipment include power front seats, 3-position memory, 64-color interior trim lights, 2-zone automatic air conditioning and panoramic sunroof.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 EV uses an electric motor placed at the rear axle, with a capacity of 224 horsepower, maximum torque of 335 Nm, combined with a 2-speed gearbox. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
58 kWh battery pack combined with 800 V voltage system. According to the announcement, the car has a range of 459-542 km according to WLTP standards and supports a maximum charging capacity of 200 kW.
This parameter gives the CLA 200 EV an advantage in terms of long-distance operation in theory. However, the actual distance depends on speed, weather conditions, payload and operation.
In Vietnam, the charging infrastructure problem is still one of the factors to consider when choosing this model. Mercedes-Benz does not yet have a widespread charging station network like some domestic electric vehicle manufacturers, so users mainly have to be proactive with chargers at home or use charging points at dealerships and compatible locations.
In addition, the maximum charging power of 200 kW can only be achieved when using a charging source that meets the technical requirements of the car. Therefore, the advantage of the 800 V power system does not mean that every charging point can provide charging speed at this level.
The design of the sedan coupe can also be a factor affecting customer access. The sloping roof design and aerodynamics priority may make the rear seat space not as spacious as traditional sedans.
CLA was once distributed by Mercedes-Benz in Vietnam with internal combustion engine versions but did not create a clear position in the segment. With CLA 200 EV, new design and 800 V power technology will be factors that users are interested in, while charging infrastructure and actual usage needs are still issues to consider.
