A Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance has just been spotted rolling on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, quickly becoming the focus of attention of car lovers thanks to its characteristic sporty design and high-performance hybrid powertrain.
The car has a matte blue exterior combined with a black fabric roof, creating a different appearance compared to many Mercedes-AMG models currently available in Vietnam. The car shape still retains the characteristic lines of the SL line with an extended front, a rear-facing cockpit and a rounded rear, and is also developed according to modern design language.
The front of the car stands out with AMG's signature Panamericana grille, large air intakes and many active aerodynamic details to optimize high-speed performance. The electric soft roof can be closed or opened for about 15 seconds when the car travels under 60 km/h, bringing flexibility to the high-performance roadster model.
The E Performance version is also recognized by the integrated charging port, badges placed on the front fender and a double trapezoidal exhaust system on the rear. These details show the difference of the electrical model compared to the traditional SL versions running internal combustion engines.
The most notable feature on the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance lies in the plug-in hybrid powertrain. The car uses a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine placed in the front combined with a 204 horsepower electric motor arranged on the rear axle and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.
This system produces a combined power of 816 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,420 Nm, helping the roadster accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 317 km/h.
The appearance of the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E Performance shows that the trend of electrification is expanding to the high-performance sports car segment. Instead of focusing only on fuel economy, hybrid technology on this model is developed to improve acceleration, accelerator pedal response and operating performance, while still maintaining the characteristics of the V8 AMG engine.
