Ho Chi Minh City reviews areas with information about burials of more than 100 martyrs

Ho Chi Minh City calls on witnesses to provide information about the martyr burial place in the Go Vap Martyrs' Memorial Area (old).

On September 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Command is coordinating with functional agencies to survey, review, collect and verify information to serve the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains who sacrificed in the Tet Offensive in 1968.

The inspection area is the place believed to have the remains of martyrs buried in the area of the Martyrs' Memorial of Go Vap district (old), now at No. 182 Nguyen Van Luong, An Nhon ward, Ho Chi Minh City and some old well areas in the area.

According to information and records from historical witnesses who directly participated and witnessed the event, during the Mau Than Tet holiday in 1968, many officers and soldiers of the main force units and Saigon Special Forces sacrificed themselves in the process of attacking key targets such as Tan Son Nhat Airport, General Staff, Chu Ia intersection area, Cay Dua intersection...

The bodies of the martyrs are believed to be more than 100 people. According to information provided, when collected, the bodies still had military uniforms, clothes, sandals or shoes. After that, the bodies were transported by military vehicles, Red Cross vehicles, to be gathered, processed and filled with soil in ditches along the road in front of Co Loa Citadel (old), now the area of Go Vap District Martyrs' Memorial and some old well areas in the area.

The Ho Chi Minh City Command calls on veterans, former Saigon commandos, historical witnesses, long-time residents in the locality and relatives of martyrs if they still keep relevant information to provide to functional agencies.

The information requested to be provided includes the battle, list of officers, soldiers, units of troops and commando forces participating in attacking targets in the Tan Son Nhat area, General Staff, Chu Ia intersection... during the Mau Than Tet in 1968.

Functional agencies also need to provide information about the specific locations of collecting pits, earth ditches, and wells that were used to bury martyrs' bodies in the area of the Go Vap District Martyrs' Memorial and surrounding areas.

In addition, maps, diagrams, diaries, images, documents or related memories and clues are also requested to be provided to serve the survey and verification process.
