The Vietnamese automobile market in April 2025 continued to record a downward trend with total sales reaching 29,585 vehicles, down 6.28% compared to the previous month, according to data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA).
Of which, tourist vehicles and commercial vehicles both decreased by 7%, while the specialized vehicle segment grew by 11%. The number of domestically assembled cars reached 13,890 and imported cars reached 15,695, both recording a decrease of 7%.
Despite the overall decline in the market, the list of 10 models with the slowest monthly sales has remained almost unchanged, notably the presence of 4 Toyota models: Land Cruiser, Alphard, Corolla Altis and Innova.
Honda Accord continues to be the model with the lowest sales in the market, reaching only 3 units sold, down 40% compared to last month. High selling prices and un typical designs are the main factors that make this D-class sedan unpopular.
Mazda 6 and Isuzu mu-X ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively with modest sales, respectively 4 and 13 cars. Despite their advantage in selling price, both models are considered unattractive in design and equipment.
Ford Explorer achieved sales of 13 vehicles, down more than 50%. High prices along with the lack of a production version in 2025 are factors that limit competitiveness.
Toyota Land Cruiser (18 cars) and Alphard (21 cars) continue to face difficulties in the market due to high selling prices, limited supply and long waiting times.
Similarly, Corolla Altis and Innova also recorded low sales due to lack of innovation and strong competition from high-chassis models.
Finally, the two representatives of Isuzu, mu-X and D-Max, were on the list with sales of 13 and 32 vehicles respectively, continuing to show the challenge of this brand in attracting individual customers in Vietnam.
