Electric motorbikes for students enter the busiest sales season of the year

Vân Trang |

After the entrance exam, the electric motorbike market for students began to enter its peak season when many families sought to buy vehicles for their children before the new school year. With the strong growth of the market and the increasingly complete charging and battery exchange infrastructure, electric motorbikes are expected to continue to lead in purchasing power this summer.

Dealers are bustling with customers asking to buy student electric vehicles

At the beginning of July, many electric motorbike dealerships in Hanoi recorded a sharp increase in customers compared to the beginning of the year. At a VinFast showroom on Pham Van Dong street, parents continuously brought their children to see student models such as Motio, Evo Lite Neo and Evo Neo.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, manager of an electric motorbike dealership, said that the student segment is accounting for the largest proportion of summer sales.

About 70-80% of customers at this time are parents buying cars for their children to go to school. Flazz Max and Evo Lite models are asked a lot because of their compact design, easy to control and low usage costs" - Mr. Hung said.

According to Mr. Hung, the difference this year is that customers are no longer too worried about charging batteries. Many people have proactively learned about VinFast's charging station and battery exchange cabinet system in advance.

“Previously, customers often asked how far they could go, if they ran out of battery in the middle of the road. Now they are more interested in which car model is suitable for students, warranty period and after-sales service,” he added.

The electric motorbike market is also growing very strongly. In the first 5 months of 2026, electric motorbike sales in Vietnam increased by 84.5% compared to the same period last year. Dealers expect July and August to be the sales boom period when shopping demand for the new school year peaks.

Mr. Pham Viet Trung - Deputy Managing Director of HBM Vietnam Joint Stock Company - Investor of VinFast Thu Anh electric motorcycle system: "I assess that the trend of switching to electric vehicles in Hanoi is currently taking place very strongly and substantially. This change is largely due to electric vehicle manufacturers continuously researching and constantly improving. Currently, many electric vehicle manufacturers have launched quality car models, beautiful designs and extremely reasonable prices.

Over the past time, people's needs have become much more diverse. Customers come to our showroom to learn about cars with very specific purposes of use. Grasping this, VinFast has deployed a very diverse product range, divided into two main segments for customers to easily choose: Home-based battery charging group or charger: With models such as Evo Grand or Feliz 2025, it is very suitable for the living habits of families. Flexible battery exchange group: Typical are lines such as Evo Max or Viper, allowing quick battery exchange at station cabinets, meeting the need for continuous movement, no waiting time for charging. Along with very attractive preferential policies from the company, people can now easily access and choose the car that best suits their needs.

Battery exchange and charging infrastructure develops strongly, helping parents feel secure

Many parents believe that the factor that makes them feel secure in choosing electric vehicles is the increasingly complete ecosystem. In addition to the widespread network of charging stations, VinFast is promoting the deployment of battery exchange cabinets and energy support points in many residential areas, commercial centers and key traffic routes.

Ms. Tran Thu Ha (Cau Giay ward, Hanoi) just bought an Evo Lite for her child who is about to enter 10th grade.

“Before, I was still a bit hesitant about charging batteries. But now there are more charging stations, and charging at home is also very simple. If you need to go further, you can easily find energy support points, so the family is completely assured” - Ms. Ha shared.

According to her, electric vehicles operate smoothly, do not smell of gasoline and are suitable for students who are new to the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Anh - a first-year student in Hanoi - said that he has used VinFast Evo for nearly a year.

Going to school every day is about 20-30km, so there is almost no need to worry about running out of battery. On weekends, just charging a few times is enough. The car runs smoothly, accelerates smoothly and has a much lower usage cost than gasoline cars" - Van Anh said.

The male student said that after getting used to electric cars, he no longer wants to return to gasoline cars.

The monthly electricity bill is only a small part of the gasoline bill before. The car also requires little maintenance, so it is very convenient for students" - Van Anh shared.

In the context of increasingly encouraged green traffic, along with the cost-saving use of the student electric motorbike segment, it is predicted that it will continue to lead purchasing power in the two-wheeled vehicle market in the summer of 2026.
