C-segment SUVs continue to maintain their appeal in the Vietnamese auto market in 2026. After 7 months, this segment consumed 39,853 vehicles, an increase of about 39% compared to the same period last year and accounting for 10.2% of the total market share.
Mazda CX-5 is currently leading with 9,352 vehicles, up 4.3% over the same period. Behind is VinFast VF 7 with 7,125 vehicles, while Ford Territory reached 7,124 vehicles. The only car gap between VF 7 and Territory makes the second-place competition particularly noteworthy in the last months of the year.
VF 7 is creating attraction thanks to its pure electric powertrain, design and technology equipment. The model also has an advantage in operating costs, suitable for customer groups interested in the trend of transitioning to electric cars.
In the first 7 months of the year, VF 7 has twice risen to lead sales in the segment. This result shows that the competitiveness of the electric car model in the C-segment SUV group is increasingly clear, in the context that consumers have more choices in power technology.
Ford Territory is right behind with sales of 7,124 vehicles, up 8.7% compared to the same period last year. Ford's SUV model continues to be chosen thanks to its spacious interior, design and equipment list.
Recently, Ford Vietnam added the Territory Platinum version priced at 916 million VND, 41 million VND higher than the Titanium X version. The new version is positioned in the high-end group in the product range, adding some equipment such as light-colored leather interior, 10-speaker sound system and driving assist features belonging to the Co-Pilot 360 package.
Meanwhile, Mazda CX-5 maintains its leading position thanks to its competitive price and good market recognition. The company added the Deluxe version with a listed price of 699 million VND. At dealerships, the actual selling price of the model was adjusted down to a lower level at times.
The CX-5's strengthened price policy helps the model continue to maintain its advantage in the sales race, even though the segment is increasingly seeing many new competitors with different technologies and configurations.
Another notable trend in the C-segment SUV segment this year is the increase in hybrid models.
Kia Sportage is also upgraded with three hybrid versions. Hyundai is also bringing the Tucson Hybrid to Vietnam, expected to be delivered from September with a price under 999 million VND.
The participation of many hybrid models is creating a new direction of competition for the segment. Compared to pure electric vehicles, hybrids do not require users to completely rely on charging station systems, while still aiming for fuel economy and emission reduction.
Mitsubishi Destinator also contributes to making the segment more diverse. Entering the Vietnamese market from the end of 2025, the model quickly rose to fourth place thanks to its 7-seater configuration, targeting family customers who need a wide usable space.
After 7 months, Hyundai Tucson reached 5,105 vehicles, Honda CR-V reached 3,888 vehicles and Kia Sportage reached 1,371 vehicles.
From now until the end of the year, the ranking in the C-segment SUV segment may continue to change as manufacturers promote sales policies, add new versions and expand the choice of powertrains.
With Mazda CX-5 leading, VF 7 and Territory closely following, along with the increasing appearance of hybrid versions and 7-seater SUVs, the competition in this segment is becoming more diverse in terms of both selling price, technology and usage needs.
