Strange odor attacks residential area
On May 16, Lao Dong e-newspaper published an article "People reflect strange odors from a brick factory in Ninh Binh". The article reflects the appearance of strange odors, affecting the daily life and lives of many households in Phong Doanh commune, Ninh Binh province.
According to people's reflections, recently, the area where people live often has a very unpleasant smell like burning plastic, especially in the late afternoon and at night. The strange smell becomes stronger when the weather is hot or there is strong wind. This situation has been going on for a long time but has not been thoroughly handled. Many families have to regularly close their doors to limit the smell from flying into their houses.
Some households living near the area said: "We suspect a strange smell emanating from the Trung Nghia tunnel brick factory area (in An Do village, Tan Minh commune, Ninh Binh province), so a few days ago, many people came to complain directly. In the following days, the smell no longer appeared as before.




After that, PV of Lao Dong Newspaper directly recorded at Trung Nghia Tunnel Brick Factory. At the time PV was present, recycling and production of plastic products such as buckets and basins for construction and animal husbandry were taking place inside the factory premises.
Talking to PV, a representative of the factory said that production activities have just started for more than 1 month and are in the trial run phase. After receiving feedback from people, the unit has coordinated to work with local authorities, and at the same time continues to complete the treatment system, especially the odor generated from plastic vapor during the product pressing process. The factory affirmed that it has received feedback and will implement remedial measures to minimize the impact on the lives of surrounding people.


Dismantling machinery, stopping the production of buckets and basins
After a period of reflection, on June 3, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded that in the area of Trung Nghia Tunnel Brick Factory, all machinery related to the production of buckets and plastic basins had been dismantled. Workers are cleaning up, transporting equipment, raw materials and remaining products out of the factory area.
Regarding the above issue, a representative of Tan Minh Commune People's Committee, Ninh Binh province, said that immediately after receiving the reflection from Lao Dong Newspaper, the local government established an inspection team to verify the content of environmental pollution in production in the Trung Nghia tunnel brick factory area.
According to the minutes of the meeting, the unit stopped production, and it is expected that by June 5, it will collect and liquidate the machinery.
People are excited
After the production of buckets and plastic basins in the area of Trung Nghia tunnel brick factory stopped operating, many people living near the area said that the strange smell no longer appeared as before.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (resident in Phong Doanh commune, Ninh Binh province) said that about a month ago, every evening, the whole family had to close the doors. Many days when eating rice, we also smelled a very unpleasant smell. After people reflected, Lao Dong Newspaper spoke up, local authorities intervened to inspect, in recent days, we no longer smell that smell. All activities have returned to normal, so everyone is excited.
