On April 29, Can Tho General Hospital informed that it had just marked an important milestone in the process of mastering kidney transplant techniques when successfully performing the 10th kidney transplant from a living donor.
In particular, 10 consecutive transplants have achieved good results, marking a remarkable step forward for the hospital in the field of organ transplantation with support from experts from Cho Ray Hospital after 1 year of implementation.

A male patient (37 years old, Can Tho City) was diagnosed with hypertension in July 2021, high blood pressure 190/100mmHg and was treated with ha ap drugs. In November 2021, the patient with edema at both lower limbs was admitted to the hospital for treatment with a diagnosis of stage 5 chronic kidney failure, and was indicated for emergency blood filtration and pertained to peripheral anasthesia until now.
After preparing legal documents and actively treating, the kidney transplant was performed on April 22, 2025 with the technique of removing the left kidney using endoscopy from the donor into the right pelvic cavity of the recipient.
The patient is currently conscious, has good contact, and the kidney function results have returned to normal treatment, and has been discharged home and re-examined as scheduled.

Previously, on April 25, 2024, Can Tho National Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology Hospital successfully performed the first kidney transplant, officially becoming the 26th kidney transplant center in the country; the first hospital in the Mekong Delta to successfully implement this high-tech transplant.
Through understanding the situation, the patients are all recovering well, and are continuing to be monitored and treated by internal medicine at the hospital. All cases are carried out well in terms of legality and expertise.
