Speaking at the Online Forum with the theme "Joining hands to push back counterfeit and poor quality goods to protect consumer health" organized by Hanoi Newspaper on the afternoon of July 10, Mr. Do Anh Hung, Deputy Head of the Department of Food Poisoning Monitoring and Communications, Department of Food Safety and Hygiene said:
In 2025, implementing the Prime Minister's instructions on controlling fake food, Hanoi established interdisciplinary inspection teams for the Lunar New Year, Food Safety Action Month in 2025 and interdisciplinary inspection teams for milk, nutritional foods, and health protection foods.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the city's interdisciplinary working groups inspected 84 food production and trading establishments, 21/84 of which were successful, and 63 establishments had violations of food safety.
The authorities have requested 6 establishments to temporarily suspend operations to correct violations before continuing operations;
At the same time, temporarily suspended operations of 1 facility, took 33 food samples to send for in-depth testing to assess product quality (32/33 samples achieved), destroyed the quantity of unsafe raw materials and food with an estimated value of over 500 million VND.

With surprise inspections and strict handling of violations, many cases have been transferred to the police for investigation, the list of violating facilities has been made public to increase deterrence.
Some discovered cases have caused "shake-ups" in public opinion such as the Nguyen Ninh green rice cake crop (Hang Coon Street, Hoan Kiem), bim bim Duc Vinh (Hoai Duc), candy in La Phu... are also a wake-up call for businesses that have not fully complied with food safety regulations.
It is undeniable that the sudden inspection and strict handling of violations have contributed to raising awareness of food production and trading establishments.
Typically, after being pointed out by the interdisciplinary inspection team for violations, the Nguyen Ninh Greenwich breakwater establishment has made a fundamental change in its awareness and proactively overcome and comprehensively repaired to be allowed to operate again.
At the same time, inspection activities also contribute to changing consumer awareness in the selection and use of safe food products.
According to Mr. Hung, in recent years, food safety assurance has been identified by Hanoi City as a key task, always being strongly directed and implemented synchronously and effectively, with the participation of the entire political system.
Every year, the City People's Committee issues a plan and implements food safety work throughout the area. In particular, during peak times of food safety such as Tet, Spring Festival, Food Safety Action Month, Mid-Autumn Festival, etc., the city has established interdisciplinary inspection teams on food safety, organizing surprise inspections of compliance with food safety laws at organizations and individuals producing, processing, and trading food.
