In two days, May 29 - 30, Cao Bang Provincial General Hospital coordinated with Duc Giang General Hospital (Hanoi) to perform Phaco surgery to treat cataracts for 28 patients in the area.
Patients are screened at the community before surgery is indicated.
Most are elderly people with eye diseases such as cataracts, eye bags, eye fungus, retinal aging and some other diseases affecting vision.
In this phase, the team of doctors and nurses successfully performed 28 Phaco surgeries, including 2 cases of corneal removal to treat corneal ulcers and 4 patients undergoing surgery on both eyes.
After surgery, patients are instructed in detail on the care regimen, use of eye drops, maintain eye hygiene, limit exposure to bright light and do not drive for the first two weeks to support the vision recovery process and reduce the risk of complications.
According to Cao Bang Provincial General Hospital, from April 2026 to now, the unit has coordinated with Duc Giang General Hospital and Hanoi Eye Hospital to successfully perform 87 cataract surgeries.
Strengthening professional support from upper-level hospitals contributes to helping the Provincial General Hospital gradually master the technique of cataract surgery using the Phaco method.
Through this, people have access to high-quality medical services right in their localities, reducing pressure on upper-level medical facilities, while saving time and treatment costs.
