Previously, the girl K.Y (residing in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam) was taken to the hospital by her family in a chest tightness, feeling choked and having difficulty swallowing.
According to the family, while playing at home, Y. unfortunately swallowed a metal coins.

At the Department of Emergency, after examination and X-ray, the doctors determined that there was a horizontal horizontal contrasting object segment 1/3 under the esophagus, at the position corresponding to the T7-T8 breast vertebra. Shortly thereafter, the child was transferred to the Faculty of Diagnostic Imaging to conduct emergency laparoscopy.
The endoscopy team led by Dr. Tran Duy Hoan performed anesthesia and removed the foreign object. Within just 5 minutes, a 3cm diameter metal coins were safely taken out of the esophagus. After 15 minutes, the child was completely alert, had no breast pain and no longer showed signs of swallowing.

Doctor Tran Duy Hoan said: "Fortunately, the family discovered it in time and took the child to the hospital early. The foreign object is a round, not sharp quarter, so it does not cause damage to the digestive tract. If delayed, the risk of infection and esophageal perforation is very high".
Through the incident, Dr. Hoan warned parents not to let their children play with small items such as coins, Chongqing batteries or swallowing toys.
