Recently, videos that are said to be fake eggs have caused confusion among many consumers. Posts sharing photos of eggs with 2 intestines or rubber-white intestines with the saying that the eggs were counterfeit have attracted thousands of comments.
In response to this information, the Vietnam Poultry Association spoke up to affirm that this is false information that causes confusion, concern for consumers and negatively affects the production and trading of domestic poultry eggs.
According to the Vietnam Poultry Association, up to now, there is no scientific evidence in the world that fake eggs with characteristics similar to natural chicken eggs can be produced. In fact, in our country, no counterfeit eggs have been discovered in circulation on the market before or present. Therefore, it can be affirmed that the information spread on social networks about the production of fake eggs in the country is completely fabricated.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh - former lecturer at the Institute of Biotechnology and Food (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) - said that these are baseless rumors with little scientific basis.
"Eggs are a very special food because they have a complete biological structure. To forge an egg with full whites, yellows, thin skin, shells, nutrient balance, flavor... is very difficult, let alone the economic aspect. Meanwhile, real eggs are very cheap.
No one is foolish enough to forge a cheap thing and then sell it at such a low price. If it is fake, it will have to be made like real eggs to be able to consume, no one will make eggs unusually like the information on social networks", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh analyzed.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh said that there were also cases of soaking chemicals to turn white eggs into brown eggs and vice versa. However, this is very rare and if there is, it is only a small basis because the price is not different. Soaking chemicals like that only affects the skin, but cannot affect the structure and flavor of the egg.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh also added that yellow-heeled eggs are not an artificial intervention product, but they are quite rare and do not harm the health of users.
In the face of a wave of misconceptions, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thinh recommends that consumers stay calm and not panic about unverified information. According to him, authorities and the media need to promptly speak up to refute untrue rumors to avoid causing public panic, affecting the market and causing damage to genuine livestock farmers.
Regarding this information, the Vietnam Poultry Association has sent an official dispatch to the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and media agencies to make recommendations and handle false rumors about fake eggs. The Vietnam Poultry Association recommends that authorities need to investigate, verify and strictly handle those who have reported false information about fake eggs, not only causing confusion and concern for consumers but also causing great damage to the livestock industry.
