Saving a pregnant woman with heart disease

Soc Trang - Doctors at the Provincial General Hospital have just successfully treated patient D.T.T.L (23 years old, in My Xuyen district) with heart disease during pregnancy.

Ms. L was admitted to Soc Trang Province Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital on February 24 with symptoms of difficulty breathing, chest and abdominal pain after 37 weeks and 4 days of pregnancy. Doctors diagnosed her with stage III erratic secondary blockage (slow heart rate disorder), a dangerous condition that can threaten the lives of both mother and baby.

Due to her complicated medical condition, Ms. L was transferred to Soc Trang Provincial General Hospital for intensive treatment. Immediately after receiving the treatment, doctors at Soc Trang General Hospital provided emergency care.

Doctor Lam Ky Sanh - Head of the Department of rhythmology, Soc Trang General Hospital - said: "We quickly installed a temporary heart rate monitor to stabilize the patient's heart rate. At the same time, closely coordinate with Soc Trang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to conduct cesarean section to ensure the safety of both mother and baby".

Doctor Lam Ky Sanh informed that the surgery was a great success, saving both mother and baby. After the surgery, Ms. L's condition has stabilized. She continued treatment and was given a permanent resident spacer. On March 4, Ms. L was discharged from the hospital.

Ms. L's family situation is very difficult, but thanks to the help of benefactors and support from the Social Work Group, Ms. L received funding for treatment costs.
