Information from Can Tho Children's Hospital, the hospital has received 5 cases of children who have been suffocated by foreign objects in the airway, endangering their lives in the past 2 months.
Some of them are only 8 months old. After eating plums, the child suddenly turned purple, coughed and quickly fell into a state of respiratory failure.
The child was taken to Can Tho Children's Hospital in critical condition and was urgently treated by doctors. Currently, the child's health is stable.
The other two cases were a 21-month-old baby (suffered from tickling tilapia) and an 11-month-old baby (suffered from congestion while eating). Both showed signs of difficulty breathing, coughing a lot and were given timely emergency care.

Notably, the remaining 2 cases were a 9-month-old baby and a 13-month-old baby, admitted to the hospital with symptoms of prolonged cough and wheezing. After a CT scan, the doctor discovered a foreign object in the trachea and performed intervention to remove the foreign object from the airway.
According to the doctor, to prevent dangerous complications caused by airway foreign objects, parents should take their children to see a doctor when they see a child with a long cough or wheezing. In case the child coughs and then choke, if first aid is not known, he must be taken immediately to the nearest medical facility.
Note, parents should not try to hook their baby's throat with hands or foreign objects, this can cause foreign objects to penetrate deeper or damage the baby's throat.
