Gia Lai works to recover health care after floods, respond to upcoming storms

Immediately after the flood receded, the Gia Lai provincial health sector simultaneously deployed disease prevention and control measures to overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Medical forces spray chemicals, treat the environment in deeply flooded areas, and monitor public health to prevent the risk of disease.

On November 25, Mr. Le Quang Hung - Director of the Department of Health of Gia Lai province - said that up to now, the medical treatment work after floods in the province has basically stabilized. Tomorrow, this work will be completed.

"Currently, the Department is focusing on implementing measures to ensure safety for hospitals, treatment facilities and medical equipment... to be ready to respond to the upcoming storm," said Mr. Hung.

According to the Department of Health of Gia Lai province, the unit has received 4,000 doses of VAT vaccine ( case of tetanus - diphtheria) and 2,000 doses of SAT serum ( case of tetanus toxin) donated by the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, in order to promptly support health care for people affected by storms and floods.

During the recent flood, many areas in the eastern part of Gia Lai province were flooded and landslides. People and rescue forces always face the risk of injury, infection of wounds and increased risk of tetanus during the rescue - relief process, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

The available medicine and vaccines have practically supported the work of overcoming the consequences of storms and floods, demonstrating the spirit of sharing with people in disaster areas and making an important contribution to community health care.
