The water from the upstream of the Ha Thanh River is pouring in very quickly, it is forecasted that this afternoon and evening (November 24), the water level is likely to rise, causing deep flooding over a wide area.

In this situation, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that this afternoon, the Provincial People's Committee held an urgent meeting, requesting the wards of Quy Nhon Dong, Quy Nhon Tay, Quy Nhon Bac and Tuy Phuoc, Tuy Phuoc Dong, Tuy Phuoc Tay, Tuy Phuoc Bac to evacuate people in low-lying areas at risk of deep flooding, to safe places tonight.
"The houses that were flooded into the stadium must be evacuated tonight, absolutely no one should stay. Failure to comply will be enforced. People have locked the doors to evacuate, the police will protect their property. Resolutely do not let the situation of calling for help in the middle of the night like the recent flood repeat," Mr. Thanh emphasized.

On the same afternoon, Ms. Le Thi Vinh Huong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tuy Phuoc commune - said that the water level of the Ha Thanh river rose again, and the locality informed people in low-lying areas to evacuate in the evening.
"For the two flood-prone dykes - the dykes of Van Hoi 1 village and the law Le dykes, the commune has made an emergency reinforcement plan and announced the evacuation of people in affected villages. This afternoon, the 50-person force of the commune packed sand in bags to reinforce the dike tomorrow with the support of the military force," Ms. Huong informed.

Currently, Phong Thanh, Lu Le, Dieu Tri, Van Hoi 1 and Van Hoi 2 villages need to be evacuated this afternoon to ensure safety if flood waters continue to rise at night.
"The Provincial People's Committee requires localities to immediately evacuate people in dangerous areas; those who are still subjective and non-compliant will be subject to enforcement or sign a commitment to take responsibility if they are determined not to go," said Ms. Huong.

According to Ms. Huong, through two historic natural disasters, the government and forces have made efforts to support the evacuation and rescue of isolated people. However, human resources are limited, so each person needs to proactively evacuate and protect themselves.
Currently, the dike in Van Hoi 1 village was broken by flood about 90m, the concrete surface was broken, trees fell; the Luat Le dike broke for a section of 30m, causing 660 households with more than 2,500 people to be isolated, many properties were swept away.
