5 years of fighting
The successful kidney transplant at Can Tho Central General Hospital helped teacher L.N.Y. (35 years old, living in Ca Mau province) has made a spectacular recovery after nearly 6 years of treatment for end-stage chronic kidney failure.
This is the 12th pair of transplants successfully performed at the Hospital under the professional support of Cho Ray Hospital.
Previously, Ms. Y. was a literature teacher at a high school in Ca Mau. She discovered unusual signs of health when she was often tired after teaching. After visiting a local medical facility, she was recommended to have an in-depth check-up at the upper level.

At Cho Ray Hospital, Ms. Y was diagnosed with end-stage chronic kidney failure due to IgA kidney disease. From there, the journey back and forth between Ca Mau and Cho Ray Hospital began, lasting for 5 consecutive years. She was treated with abdominal dialysis.
Determined not to let the disease affect her teaching work, Ms. Y. tries to maintain the home triangles and regularly re-examines every month. This method helps control blood pressure, improve heart function and reduce dependence on hospitals, but also requires patients to strictly comply with the principle of sterility.
Hope to return to the podium soon
At this time, her condition was prolonged and her health declined, making it impossible for Ms. Y. to continue teaching. Right when she seemed desperate, Ms. Y. learned that the kidney transplant had been successfully implemented in the Mekong Delta region. This has lit up hope for Ms. Y. and her family.
After 5 months of preparation, internal medicine treatment, nutrition and completion of legal procedures, the kidney transplant of Ms. Y. and the donor, the biological mother. The medical team of Can Tho Central General Hospital successfully performed it with the support of experts from Cho Ray Hospital.
Sharing after the surgery, Ms. Y. was moved: "I feel like I am reviving. My current health has improved significantly, I eat well, and feel relaxed. I hope to recover soon to return to the podium.
Through her story, Ms. Y told that treating kidney failure is a long and arduous journey, but as long as you keep your spirit, do not give up hope and give full confidence to doctors and nurses, you will find hope for a revival.

On August 1, information from Can Tho Central General Hospital said that after the successful 12th pair, the unit has completed preparations to conduct the 13th and 14th pairings at the end of August 2025. The hospital also plans to perform for the next 7 pairs in the near future.
