Patient D.S.R (male, 12 years old, Binh Phuoc province) was admitted to Children's Hospital 2 with crushed tissue, many jagged wounds on fingers 1, 2, 3 and an open fracture of the second metacarpal bone of the left hand. Doctors urgently performed surgery on the patient. Before that, S.R had taken the powder from the end of a match and put it into the tube of the tire to explode.
Another case is patient A.T.V (male, 12 years old, Gia Lai province) was transferred to the hospital with second-degree burns covering 35% of the body area due to playing with firecrackers causing an explosion. This patient had many wounds on the face, chest, forearms on both sides, thighs and calves on both sides.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nga - Deputy Head of the Burn and Orthopedics Department of Children's Hospital 2, in just 2 weeks, the Department has received 3 consecutive pediatric patients related to the act of making fireworks. Every year, Children's Hospital 2 regularly receives and treats pediatric patients related to fireworks, especially during holidays and Tet.
To prevent accidents caused by fireworks, Dr. Ngoc Nga recommends that families and schools regularly remind children to absolutely not use explosives or mix chemicals to make fireworks, especially for children who are at an age of curiosity and discovery.
At the same time, educate children to understand the level of danger caused by fireworks such as causing fire, explosion, injury, disability, and even death.
