At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that in 2024, the health sector had completed 3/3 of the main socio-economic targets for 2024 assigned by the National Assembly, exceeding 2 targets on the number of doctors per 10,000 people (reaching 14 doctors per 10,000 people) and the number of hospital beds per 10,000 people (reaching 34 beds per 10,000 people), the target on the rate of population participating in health insurance reached 94.1%.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the health sector will face many challenges in the coming year, such as changes in the disease structure; the epidemic situation in the world is becoming more and more complicated, unpredictable and difficult to respond; the population is increasing; the population is aging; the people's health care needs are increasingly high and diverse...
Therefore, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to continue performing its tasks, closely monitoring the situation of epidemics; improving forecasting and warning capacity. The Ministry of Health will receive 3 administrative organizations under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs: Department of Children, Department of Social Protection and Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control; receive 10 public service units under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs including: 5 hospitals, 3 centers, Vietnam Children's Fund, SOS Children's Village Office, and receive the Office of the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection of Officials to the Ministry of Health.
On that basis, the plan to reorganize the administrative organization of the Ministry of Health after the acquisition is as follows: Maintain 14 administrative organizations under the Ministry of Health and 3 public service units serving the state management function; merge the Department of Medical Environment Management and the Department of Preventive Medicine into the Department of Preventive Medicine and Environment or the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health; merge the Department of Maternal and Child Health under the Ministry of Health and the Department of Children under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs into the Department of Maternal and Child Protection and Care or the Department of Mothers and Children under the Ministry of Health; merge the Department of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Health and the Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Health into the Department of HIV/AIDS and Social Evils Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Health. Reorganize the Department of Social Protection under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs into the Department of Social Protection under the Ministry of Health.
