The Examination Department, Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital 2 has thousands of patients coming to the hospital every day for examination and hospitalization for diseases related to the digestive tract such as diarrhea, sunburn, skin diseases... due to hot weather.
Taking her child to the doctor because her daughter has a skin disease, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang (mother of the child, Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City) said that about a month after giving birth, her child began to have strange symptoms on the skin, red spots appeared all over her body despite regularly using moisturizer.
"In recent days, the weather has been hot and sunny, and my child has had more red spots. When I went for a dermatological examination at Children's Hospital 2, my child was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by the doctor. In addition to having to keep the soil well, it is necessary to avoid the sun being too hot, because the hotter the more itchy spots are, Ms. Trang shared.
Not only skin diseases, many pediatric patients come to the hospital for examination in the condition of diseases related to the digestive tract (diarrhea, food poisoning); heatstroke, heatstroke; skin diseases (shorta, heat dermatitis, allergic dermatitis)...
According to BS.CK2 Truong Thi Ngoc Phu - Deputy Head of General Planning Department of Children's Hospital 2, in such hot weather, children need to be taken care of more so as not to get sick. For gastrointestinal diseases, to avoid infection, children need to create a habit of cleaning their hands clean and properly before eating, after going to the toilet and playing. At the same time, limit putting hands on the eyes, nose, mouth ... to help effectively eliminate pathogens from the children's hands.
Regarding eating, it is necessary to pay attention to processing and preserving food, drinks and the time to store food at environmental temperatures. If you eat food out of the store, at a restaurant, etc., you need to choose a location to ensure food safety and hygiene to avoid food poisoning for children.
According to the doctor, creating a clean and safe living environment such as clarifying the environment, removing stagnant water, keeping the living environment clean... helps limit the infection of infectious diseases.
Always increase the amount of water needed by the body, especially drinks rich in minerals and vitamins such as fruit juices, fresh orange juice, fresh coconut water, boiled water to cool... help children avoid dehydration due to high temperatures and increase resistance.
Limit children from playing too long in hot weather because this can easily cause children to lose water, become exhausted and become susceptible to disease. If you have to work outdoors, you should instruct children to wear protective gear carefully (wearing hats, long-sleeved shirts, covered areas...), avoid times when the temperature of the environment increases and the violet rays are active during the day (from 10 to 14 hours), the time for outdoor activities is no more than 60 minutes/day for children in hot weather.
Full vaccination is very important, some infectious diseases have vaccines to prevent them, so vaccination should be done to reduce the risk of disease and protect children through the hot season, added Dr. Ngoc Phu.
