On the afternoon of December 12, speaking to reporters, Mr. Bui Thanh Hai - Director of Dien Bien District Medical Center, said that from December 6 to 11, Dien Bien district recorded 28 cases of dysentery. Of which, 26 cases were found in Muong Pon commune and the remaining 2 cases were discovered in Na Tong commune.
Accordingly, in Muong Pon commune, the first case of dysentery was discovered to be a student at Muong Pon Secondary School; then the number of cases gradually increased, by December 11, 19 students were recorded to be infected with dysentery. Of these, 6 students were transferred to the District Medical Center for treatment; 13 students were monitored, isolated and treated at school.
In Na Tong commune, two cases of the disease were detected in the community; both patients are currently being admitted and treated at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dien Bien District Medical Center.
"Currently, the District Medical Center is maintaining a mobile medical team to prevent and control dysentery in Muong Pon commune to provide professional support to admit and treat dysentery patients. This medical team will be on duty 24/7, ready to receive, provide first aid, emergency care, treatment and care for patients," Mr. Bui Thanh Hai added.
