The project “Touching and Sharing, Giving Hope” jointly organized by the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), Mastercard Global Payment Technology Company and Payoo Payment Intermediary, has donated 2,010 screening packages for 4 cancers to disadvantaged women in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Of which, about 700 disadvantaged women were screened for free at the 108 Central Military Hospital on November 3.
The subjects participating in the screening program are female workers aged 35-60, from poor or near-poor households, single mothers with children under 16 years old, disabled people or main laborers in the family, suspected of having the disease but not yet having the conditions to be examined.
Thanks to the support of the project "Touching and sharing, giving hope", Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, 48 years old (Son Tay, Hanoi) received a free cancer screening at the 108 Central Military Hospital. It is known that Ms. Hien has a congenital motor disability and is currently a single mother raising her child.
"Without this project, I don't know when I would have the opportunity to have a medical examination. I hope the results are normal and there will be more meaningful activities like this so I can take care of my life with peace of mind," Ms. Hien shared.
Also one of the recipients of the free cancer screening at the 108 Military Central Hospital, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (Son Tay, Hanoi) also felt very happy to receive the attention and support of the project members. Due to difficult circumstances and not having the conditions for regular health check-ups, today's screening session was a great opportunity for Ms. Thu to detect health problems early.
According to Dr. Pham Quang Tap, Center for Periodic Health Examination, 108 Central Military Hospital, the rate of breast cancer in Vietnam is relatively high, if people perform early screening, they can detect cancer and tumors in the breast early. At the same time, early screening and early diagnosis are very important, if treated early and promptly, the patient's prognosis is very good.
After the initial screening results, the Hanoi Red Cross will continue to select a list of the most disadvantaged women among those at high risk of breast cancer, thyroid cancer, cervical cancer and ovarian cancer to provide financial support packages for in-depth screening.
Along with the free screening activities, the program also organizes a “Zero-VND booth” at the hospital, providing essential necessities such as rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, salt, shampoo, shower gel... for women participating in screening.
