On the morning of March 31, news from Can Tho CDC said that the number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease increased compared to the same period in 2025, warning that the disease continues to develop complicatedly.
The results collected from the System for managing and monitoring infectious diseases, community and other data sources show that the number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease accumulated from the beginning of the year to date recorded 954 cases, recorded in all 103/103 wards and communes, more than double compared to the same period in 2025 (954/424).

The highest age group with the disease is the group under 3 years old (accounting for 55.7%), the group from 3 to 5 years old (accounting for 35.3%) and the group over 5 years old (accounting for 9%).
Can Tho City has recorded 01 death case of hand, foot and mouth disease in week 13/2026.
Localities recording high cases include Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang wards.

In addition to the epidemic prevention and control activities that have been drastically implemented, Can Tho CDC believes that hand, foot and mouth disease is tending to increase rapidly and spread, especially in young children.
The emergence of deaths and severe cases shows that the risk of the epidemic is not only limited to scattered levels but can progress complicatedly if not well controlled.
Can Tho CDC will continue to strengthen surveillance and thoroughly handle cases and outbreaks; especially, use appropriate types and means of communication to have effective message content and channels to convey to the community.
