Can Tho Department of Health said that the unit has just put into operation 3 Family Doctor clinics at commune health stations in Vinh Thanh district and 2 districts of Thot Not and Cai Rang.
The clinics will contribute to improving the quality of primary care in a comprehensive and continuous manner; help screen for diseases and refer patients appropriately; and support the reduction of overload at upper-level hospitals.
The 3 clinics are equipped with many types of machines such as ultrasound, electrocardiogram, aerosol, SpO2 measurement, blood glucose measurement, air conditioning, GPP-standard pharmacy... along with a team of doctors. The Department of Health has also built and deployed the Can Tho health care application with functions such as online appointment scheduling; cashless payment; remote medical consultation and examination.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Cuong - Director of Can Tho Department of Health - informed that the Department is determined to implement this family doctor model and will expand it in the near future. The criteria for selection are that the clinics must have a relatively stable number of patients, located in remote areas to promptly care for people's health, minimizing time and travel costs...
"The Department of Health wants the health station to build a united, open, transparent financial community, and expand testing services, physical therapy, rehabilitation, home care, palliative care, etc. We also commit to continue to support local family doctor clinics," said Mr. Cuong.
It is known that up to now, Can Tho Department of Health has trained 106 family doctors (including 15 I specialists and 91 3-month training) to serve the grassroots health sector. Training in diagnosis, treatment, management of hypertension, diabetes, first aid, basic colposcopy, basic electrocardiogram, general ultrasound, drug and medical equipment management.
Can Tho currently has 3 general hospitals (750 beds), 9 medical centers (240 beds) and 80 medical stations; a total of 1,950 district and commune medical staff, 563 hamlet and regional medical staff. 100% of stations have doctors; 82.9% have pharmacists; 87.5% have obstetrics and gynecology staff.
