According to the Cao Bang Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC Cao Bang), since the beginning of the year, the whole province has recorded nearly 2,000 cases of measles.
Measles appeared mainly in Bao Lam district with 1,504 cases, Bao Lac with 246 cases, Ha Quang with 41 cases, Nguyen Binh with 2 cases, Cao Bang city with 7 cases. Main symptoms: fever, rash, inflammation of the respiratory tract.
Through monitoring the measles epidemic situation in the province, it shows that measles cases are mainly concentrated in children aged 1 - 5 with 1,031 children, accounting for 57.3%; children aged 6 - 10 with 463 cases, accounting for 25.7%; under 1 year old 161 cases, accounting for 8.9%; over 10 years old 145 cases, accounting for 8%. Almost all cases have not been vaccinated against measles.

On March 3, speaking with reporters, Dr. Ly Van Chuyen - Director of Bao Lam District Medical Center - said: "There are quite a lot of measles infections in the area, especially in young children. Although there have been no serious changes, we are still maintaining propaganda measures so that people can proactively prevent early, most importantly, vaccinate early".
According to Dr. Be Thi Ngoc Lan - Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention (CDC Cao Bang), measles is an acute infectious disease.
Symptoms of the disease include: fever, rash and inflammation of the respiratory tract, appearance of small white particles (Koplik) in the mouth lining. Measles can cause many dangerous complications such as middle ear inflammation, pneumonia, diarrhea, dry eye cornea ulcers, and can even lead to encephalitis that can easily lead to death. In particular, if children are young and malnourished and suffer from the condition, the condition will be more serious.

Measles is very contagious and often causes epidemics. The disease is mainly transmitted through the respiratory tract by inhaling the patient's nasal and throat discharge dispersed in the air or direct contact with the patient's nasal and throat secretion.
Especially in closed living conditions, crowded places such as residential areas, schools, hospitals... most people without immunity can get sick.
Doctor Lan said that measles vaccination is the most important measure. You can use a single or combination vaccine (measles - rubella or measles -olds - rubella). For young children, it is necessary to vaccinate with 2 doses, the first dose when the child is 9 months old, the second dose when the child is 18 months old.
