On September 8, the second batch of African swine fever vaccine with 340,000 doses officially departed for the Philippines. This is the largest batch of African swine fever vaccine exported ever.
The vaccine, called AVAC ASF live, was licensed for import in the first batch (160,000 doses) by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Philippines in August 2024. After carefully assessing 160,000 doses on the field, the Philippine government has continued to order and import 340,000 doses for further use. "This proves that AVAC's African swine fever vaccine has shown safety and effectiveness, gaining confidence in its use in the Philippines. This result will further strengthen confidence in the quality of "made in Vietnam" vaccine products," shared Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, General Director of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company.

On the Philippines' side, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Juancho Robles, General Director of KPP Power Comoditis Company - a vaccine importer and distributor in the Philippines, said: "We hope to continue to maintain and strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in research, development and sharing of veterinary vaccines as well as animal health care solutions. This cooperation is of great significance in responding to African swine fever and emerging epidemics in the region, contributing to ensuring food security and increasing resilience for the livestock industry".
After exporting the first batch of vaccine to the Philippines, the company regularly contacted partners in the Philippines, reported and discussed directly with the leaders of the Philippine Ministry of Agriculture about the vaccine use situation.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong, President of the Vietnam Veterinary Science and Technology Association, said that the event of Vietnam exporting African swine fever vaccine has demonstrated 3 values in science and technology; economy - society and international cooperation. "The Philippines' second import shows that it has verified and brought about effectiveness, and at the same time, it has faith in the African swine fever vaccine produced in Vietnam. The event will also contribute to helping people understand and have more confidence in the quality of Vietnam's African swine fever vaccine".
In addition to the Philippines, AVAC is also targeting other markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and some African countries. The enterprise is registered in India, Malaysia, Nepal, Myanmar.
In the context of the world not having an African swine fever vaccine, Vietnam is the first country to successfully and allow free circulation of African swine fever vaccine from July 2023.
Before the Philippines, in June 2025, Indonesia also allowed the import and free trade of the first batch of 120,000 doses. Mr. Le Toan Thang - Head of the Veterinary Medicine Management Department (Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that the licensing of African swine fever vaccine circulation is an opportunity to affirm the position of Vietnam's veterinary vaccine on the international map. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will continue to accompany businesses in assessing product quality, negotiating with importing countries and supporting necessary procedures to expand export markets.
