The vaccine named AVAC ASF live has been approved for use by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture under Decision No. 3693/KTTS/PK.150/FI.04/2025 issued on April 23, 2025. PT Company. Biotis Prima Agrisindo is the vaccine importer and distributor in this archipelago country.
Previously, the vaccine was licensed for control in Vietnam in July 2022 and allowed to be commercialized nationwide from July 2023.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Diep - General Director of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, the product has been tested with more than 600,000 doses at nearly 600 farms, proving its effectiveness in preventing African swine fever. By the beginning of 2025, more than 2.5 million doses have been used domestically, including millions of doses in provinces and cities such as Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Son La, Hai Duong, Tra Vinh, Hai Phong... helping to effectively control the epidemic on a large scale.
Not only highly appreciated domestically, the AVAC ASF live vaccine has created a buzz at many international scientific seminars, and is currently in the process of registering for circulation in some countries. Of which, the Philippines has officially licensed its use, while Nigeria has also imported 5,000 doses for testing.
The special feature of the AVAC ASF live live virus TT vaccine is that it was developed based on the technology of living living anti-poison, genetic cutting - a modern approach that the US is taking the lead in and transferring it to a number of international partners, including AVAC.
Assessing the vaccine export potential of Vietnam, Mr. Le Toan Thang - Head of the Veterinary Medicine Management Department (Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that the country currently has 12 vaccine manufacturing enterprises, whose products have reached 40 countries and territories.
"The African swine fever vaccine has been evaluated and tested very carefully by the authorities, officially used since 2022 and has proven effective in preventing African swine fever in many provinces and cities," said Mr. Thang.
According to Mr. Thang, Indonesia's official licensing of the African swine Fever vaccine is an opportunity to affirm the position of Vietnam's veterinary vaccine on the international map. In the coming time, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will continue to accompany businesses in assessing product quality, negotiating with importing countries and supporting necessary procedures to expand export markets.
